Halloween Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes

I love to watch television shows about food, especially shows about baking (of course).  One of my favorite shows was  DC Cupcakes .  When I heard that Sophie and Katherine were going to be at the  Willow Books & Cafe  in Acton, MA, I was there!!  I've only been to one other book signing prior to this (Jodi Picoult in Boston, with my sister).  I've since learned they are all run differently.  If you are interested, do the research ahead of time.  At Willow Books you have to buy the book ahead of time so that you receive a low number.  When you get there, you can sit wherever you want and listen to their talk.  Then you are called by a small group of numbers to get in line to have your book signed.  I think I was in the second group.  It was a really fun thing to do and I was able to talk with Sophie and Katherine for a minute or so.  They even brought sample cupcakes for everyone to try. YUM!...

Oreo Cookie & Peanut Butter Brownie Cupcake

Thanks to my friend, Robyn Gray, I saw this on Facebook.  I immediately passed it onto Ryan (who thinks Oreos are the bees knees) and knew that I would be making it sooner rather than later.  I've always said there are two flavor combinations that are my favorite:  mint and chocolate and peanut butter and chocolate.  Adding Oreo cookies to the mix just makes it that much better. The hardest part, and by that I don't really mean hard, but time-consuming, is adding the brownie batter to the cookies.  Other than that, you will complete these in no time at all.  If you need a baked good right away, then pull out these three simple things:  Oreo cookies, peanut butter and a brownie mix.  You won't be sorry (and neither will those who eat them)!

Bake-and-Take Cupcakes

I have this idea pinned on my Cool Ideas  bulletin board on Pinterest.  It is such a great idea, that I have already used it twice.  The first time was for Megan's guests to take leftover cupcakes home from her 16th birthday party.   The second time was for a bake sale.  It is perfect for a bake sale. You will need a 9-oz, clear-plastic solo cup, 4" x 9.5" bag, twist tie or ribbon. Here is a really cool tip:  Place an undecorated cupcake into the cup.  Fill a decorating bag with large tip with frosting.  Frost cupcake while it is in the cup.  Try not to touch the edge of the cup.
